Scatter Plot
Variables: The temperature outside and how fast Crickets Chirp.
Prediction: I predict that the warmer the temperature the faster a cricket will chirp. I think this because I know there is some kind of formula you can use to find the temperature based on cricket chirps. I used to know how to do this but I unfortunately forgot. I also predict this because when it’s cooler out side, you rarely hear crickets. Where as, if it is warmer out, it’s all you can hear.
Problem 1) 12n= n+14+n
-2n -n -n
What you do to one side, you must do to the other. We want all the ‘n’s on one side, so to do that we subtract both ‘n’s from the right, and because we took 2 away from he right, we subtract 2 from the left.
We now have, 10n=14
10 10
What we wan to do now is get the 10n, down to just n. To do this we divide 10n by 10, but we have to also do this to the right side of the equal sign.
We now have n=1.4, which is our answer! To check this, you can substitute n with 1.4
Problem 2) 5n-3= -23
+3 +3
Since we only have a variable on one side of the equal sig, we leave that as ia for now. What we need to do is eliminate the -3 on the left. To do this, you add the opposite, which would be +3.
We now have 5n= -20
5 5
To get the 5n down to 1n, we divide both sides by 5.
Doing that gives us our answer of n= -4! To check this, substitute the n’s with -4
